Mercury/Uranus Aspects (Part II)

Power of NatureTo continue our look at Mercury and Uranus aspects here is a summary of how these two planets interact when there is an aspect between them in your natal chart. This excerpt is taken from one of my ten favorite astrology books of all time - The Combination of Stellar Influences by Reinhold Ebertin.

Uranus/Mercury Principle: Astuteness, intuition

Psychological Correspondence:
For Positive Aspects: A revolutionary spirit and mind, shrewdness, inventive thinking, a talent for speaking, intuition, interest in or ability for technical science or engineering, physics, mathematics, rhythm etc. - The desire to be independent, intellectual fexibility.
For Negative Aspects: Too many irons in the fire, also the inclination to scatter one's energies in too many directions at once, nervous haste, temporary or occasional confusion, tactlessness, a brutal frankness, over-estimation of self, a contradicting disposition.
Conjunction: Self-will, moodiness, a good intellect

Sociological Correspondence: Mathematician, technician, physicist, a person engaged professionally in the study and application of rhythmics, cosmobiologist.

Probable Manifestations:
Positive Aspects: The power to influence other people, the establishment of innovations, inventions, the stage of sudden cognition or perception in the mind.
Negative Aspects: Failures caused through scattering one's energies or through doing everything in too great a hurry, nervousness, eccentric actions, upset and excitement.

Mercury / Uranus Aspects

Spheres of ThoughtThe three planets representing mental activity and intelligence are the Moon, Mercury and Uranus. To understand your mental abilities and quirks, look at the placement of these planets in your natal chart and the aspects they make with your other planets. (Link here if you don't know where the planets are placed in your birth chart).

Here is a partial excerpt on Mercury/Uranus aspects from Celestial Psychology. This is an excellent but little-known book on interpreting aspects in your birth chart.

"People with Mercury/Uranus contacts in their birth charts experience being different from others because of their unique mental processes and their way of expressing themselves. As children, their speeded-up thought patterns and modes of communication were dissimilar to others in the family, making them feel uncomfortable. Often they experienced frustration in trying to articulate ideas because their minds moved faster than their mouths. The parent's varying responses to these children were often perplexing. As adults, communication problems may manifest in personal, social and business relationships.

Mercury/Uranus people communicate using a kind of verbal shorthand developed from flashes of insight, a code rarely understood by others. For example, when talking with someone they often jump ahead to make their point, leaving out information essential for understanding. Impatient Uranus short circuits the information process, forgetting that other people have no idea how they arrived at their conclusions. This is why Mercury/Uranus people are so frequently misunderstood, misinterpreted and viewed as ultimately illogical. Their ideas seem to spring out of thin air, they have laid no cohesive groundwork to support their opinions and conclusions.

For Uranians to communicate effectively, they must stop assuming others possess mental telepathy. They need to explain or refer to the logical stages in the formulation of their ideas. Reconstructing this mental process is a boring and frustrating process for Uranians who have already done this internally. This same mental impatience frequently causes them to interrupt others who are talking. They need to be reminded that others have a right to express themselves in their own way and should be given a fair hearing before the Mercury/Uranus person jumps in...

Mercury/Uranus individuals can be very rigid in their thinking. Convinced of their own uniqueness, they tend to reject others' ideas and suggestions, which they believe cannot possibly apply to them. They also assume that if something works well for them, it must be right and will obviously work well for everyone else...

Mercury/Uranus people are inquisitive and experimental. They like to explore many varied intellectual areas, especially if it is their idea..."

Aquarian Colors

Think turquoise if you want a new look that suits you. Turquoise is the Aquarian color. As mentioned in a previous post, turquoise looks really good on most Aquarians. If you will be buying new clothes this spring and summer consider trying to find something in this color.

But good luck trying to find a selection of turquoise clothes in a store. That's where the internet provides a big advantage. If you know the color and style of what you're looking for, online shopping can be a lot less frustrating than going to the mall.

You may be an Aquarian but not have anything turquoise in your closet. You may find there is some other color that you are naturally drawn to and find yourself wearing most often.

For example, you may be a person that prefers black, thinks they look best in black and find yourself usually wearing black. If so, then Saturn may be very strongly placed and aspected in your chart. Or you may have a few planets in Capricorn (which is ruled by Saturn). Or your rising sign may be in Capricorn. The other possibility is that you may be undergoing a heavy-duty Saturn transit or progression and your black period is temporary.

If on the other hand you are drawn to pastels, pink and pale green than Libra or Venus may figure prominently in your chart.

The following is a list of the best color for each zodiac sign as recommended by Parker's Astrology. Consider the above points when viewing the different signs as color suitability is not based on the Sun sign alone:

Aries - red

Taurus - pink, pale blue and green
Gemini - yellow and most other colors
Cancer - silver grey
Leo - all the colors of the sun from sunrise to sunset
Virgo - navy blue, dark brown, green
Libra - shades of blue from pale to ultramarine; pink and pale green
Scorpio - dark red, maroon
Sagittarius - dark blue, purple
Capricorn - dark gray, black, dark brown
Aquarius - turquoise
Pisces - soft sea-green

Some shopping days work out better than others. Have you ever noticed that sometimes if you are shopping for clothes it is a dreary experience and you end up buying stuff you never wear? Other days you come across a great selection and find very flattering clothes.

I've never actually followed this rule myself, but according to astrology you are more likely to find the most attractive clothes if you wait to shop until the transiting Moon is in good aspect to your Venus or Ascendant. This is especially valid if the transiting Moon is in Taurus or Libra while it makes these aspects in your chart. See the book Basic Predictive Astrology for more information on this.

Meteor or space junk in the sky tonight?

I saw the most incredible sight tonight. It looked like a relatively slow moving meteorite, but much bigger. It was mostly flaming yellow, but a blue green around the edges. It was a fireball, at least thirty or fifty times as large as the largest star I can see from my patio at night. I've seen meteorites in the past but this was nothing like that, it was much much bigger.

This sighting has little relation to the general topic at Aquarian Digest, but it was too outstanding an experience not to report here, especially as it is relates to celestial events.

I've since checked Technorati and have seen three other references to this sighting. One person who saw it was in Oregon, another was in Seattle. I am in Vancouver, Canada. So the object must have been quite large if other people who live 500 miles away also saw it. The Associated Press already has a report about sightings in Oregon.

Please comment if you saw it too!

Axl Rose is Back

The New York Times did a very prominent (three page) write-up on Axl Rose yesterday. Rose is the lead member of Guns N' Roses, one of the all-time best-selling bands. They peaked in 1991. At that time they were probably the most popular band in the world.

Axl Rose is extremely Aquarian. He was born on February 6th 1962 with Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius. His birth time is unknown, so we don't know his rising sign or what house this Aquarian stellium is in. Wikipedia has an excellent overview of his troubled childhood and adult eccentricities.

The interesting NYT article by Jeff Leeds is entitled "The Most Expensive Album Never Made". The gist is that Axl Rose's third album "The Chinese Democracy" has been in production for eleven years, has cost $13 million to date but is 'still at large' and will likely never materialize.

His fans have been waiting for over a decade and many have given up. Will he ever release this album? If so, will it be a success?

According to his chart, 2005 may indeed be the year for a comeback. As the Sunday NYT article was published, Jupiter in Libra is trining his close Sun/Jupiter/Venus conjunction in Aquarius. Slow-moving, retrograde Jupiter will continue trining this lucky conjunction for another month and will cross it direct again in August and September. At the same time Neptune (planet of glamour and drama) is conjuncting this fortunate conjunction all of this year. Progressed Sun has just emerged from a thirty year sojourn in Pisces and is on the action-oriented Aries axis now. Progressed Venus is now sextiling his Mercury thus maybe encouraging a more cooperative and charming public persona.

Without knowing his birth-time and the location of his Mid-heaven or the precise location of his Moon we can't speculate much more on the chart. But it's quite possible that transiting Uranus is sitting on his high-profile public Moon this year. Anyone care to speculate on what his rising sign might be?

The long wait may soon be over.

Update February 23rd 2006: Fans are rejoicing as three tracks from the Chinese Democracy album have been leaked on the Internet. The leaks came just a couple of weeks after Axl Rose ventured out in public for the first time in eons to celebrate his 44th birthday at a Korn tour lauch party in Los Angeles and then at some trendy nightclubs in Manhattan.

Sun/Moon Combinations

Your Sun may be in Aquarius but do you know where your Moon is? The Moon is almost as important as the Sun in terms of defining yourself astrologically. The Moon and Sun are like the yin and yang of a complete individual. The Moon represents your security needs, what it is that makes you feel most at home. Whereas the Sun represents your 'ego' the Moon represents your inner emotional depths. In Eastern astrology systems, the Moon takes precedence over the Sun in terms of being the most important entity in a person's birth chart.

There are thus twelve very different types of Aquarians depending on where their respective Moons are placed. (This is still rather simplistic as it is the whole chart, the location and aspects made to all the personal planets and angles that completely describe each unique person.)

To see what your Sun/Moon combination says about you, check out the
Aquarian Sun /Moon combinations listed here at Astrology-Numerology.com.

If you're not sure where your Moon is placed, see the
Astrology for Beginners page here.

1962 Stellium in Aquarius

As regular readers already know, I am waiting to hear from at least a couple of hundred Aquarians born in 1962. These people, born in January and February of 1962, have an unusually concentrated Aquarian chart; a super stellium in Aquarius. I would like to send out a questionaire to these "AquaStells". Since I first put out the call, I've heard back from five people so far - that's a long way away from the two hundred responses I need for a good sample size.

Aquarian Digest is a relatively new site, so I'm hoping it will appear in the search engines soon. If anyone reading this is an expert on blog optimization, I'd love to hear any advice as to how I could raise my rankings in the search engines.

To try to speed up the process I'll be sending out a regular note every few weeks, calling for 1962 Aquarians to contact me. If you are one of these, please see my previous posts about 1962 Aquarians. If you were not born in 1962, please forgive the boring repetition in these occassional posts.

Free Natal Reports

Buy at Art.comI've been surfing the web for so many years it is rare now to find a great astrology site that I haven't seen before. Chaos Astrology by Michelle Jacobs is one such site that I stumbled on recently. Aside from some very mind bending articles on the macrocosm/microcosm significance of astrology, the site offers free charts and free natal chart interpretation reports. The natal chart report is very well written and provides a fresh and unique look at your planet placements. As a small sample, here is her interpretation of Sun in Aquarius;

"You are open-minded, liberal and have a definite sense of mission. Above all, you are progressive, and enjoy putting into practice that which is good for all. Your altruism may appear to others as coolness, but you are only being democratic; a free-force. You refuse to dictate or be dictated to. At home with different cultures and people, you love working with diverse groups and should align your life activity with some social cause, concept or ideal in order to establish your significance within society. You are strong on reformation and may sometimes intentionally go against the grain in order to draw focus on some revolutionary or innovative plan for the future. A great individualizer, your goal is to become that 'uncommon creature' within the larger group. Your genius is your undying belief in the promise of tomorrow. Aquarius is the sign of humanitarian goals. Always impartial and nonsectarian, Aquarian energy is communal (even global). The focus is on the goal, and the goal is always one that is for the many and not the few. Thus this sign is connected to far-seeing visions, world views and group work of all kinds."
