New Year's Resolutions and the Moon

If you're planning on making a New Year's Resolution this year you'll be happy to know it's good year astrologically for resolutions.

The best time to start new things and increase the odds of succeeding, is just after a New Moon. And a new moon is a frequent occurrence, it happens every 28 days. But this year the New Moon just happens to fall on December 31st, New Year's Eve (or December 30th, if you live in Europe).

Making a resolution to change some habit in your life will be more effective if started in the first few days after the New Moon. See a previous post on Weight Loss and Astrology Timing as one example.

This next New Moon (where Sun and Moon meet at the same degree in the zodiac) is on December 31st at ten degrees of Capricorn.

The people who are least likely to benefit from this New Year's New Moon in terms of starting new projects at this time, and being likely to succeed with them, are people whose natal Moon's are located between mid Capricorn and mid Aquarius. For this 1/12th of the general population, you can forget about a New Year's Resolution this year as it isn't likely to stick. This is because the New Year opens in your charts with the most non-active and lethargic period of 'the waning moon'; the last stages before the transiting Moon returns to the natal position in your chart.

For everyone else, make your New Year's Resolution with confidence now. Your resolve is much more likely to be successful this New Year as opposed to previous years.

That being said, the New Year is really just an artificial timeline for setting new goals for many people in the Western World. If you are wondering why there were times in your life when you made a habit-changing goal and it stuck...and succeeded, try looking at your natal Moon in relation to the transiting Moon cycle.

There will be a couple of times each year when your Natal Moon or Progressed Moon jives with the current transiting cycle of the New Moon. This cycle (unlike the arbitrary New Year's timeline) will be the most personalized one for you to set resolutions that last.

This is the best free natal report I've come across on the web, though Astrology3D and Astrodienst would be close to a tie in quality with them.

Print the report on quality paper, roll it up, wrap a pretty red ribbon around it - and voila - you have a thoughtful present that doesn't cost anything.

Venus Transit in Aquarius

VenusVenus enters Aquarius this Thursday for a teasing visit. The planet of love will only transit through the first couple of degrees of Aquarius in December, as it will turn retrograde on Christmas Eve at 1.5 degrees Aquarius. It will spend all of January and February in Capricorn and not return to Aquarius until early March 2006.

Any Aquarians born around the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius (on January 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th) will be feeling the Venus effect strongly over the next few weeks as Venus will fixate on only the first two degrees of Aquarius over this entire period.

These lucky Aquarian cusp people will find themselves to be unusually magnetic to the opposite sex throughout this several week period. They may also be the ones experiencing the most gaiety and joyful festivities over this Christmas season. This is because Venus will be spending an inordinate amount of time basking on their Sun. (It will be conjunct their Sun this whole time).

Typically a Venus transit over your Sun sign placement only lasts for two or three days. This once a year retrograde just happens to fall on the Aquarius cusp this year and will last for several weeks.

So I sometimes wonder who reads Aquarian Digest. This site gets about 3,000 page views a month now, and twenty percent of that is usually from repeat visitors.

Above is a photo of the Cosmic Princess and her friends. Cosmic Princess has a beautiful blog layout - check it out. The quote which serves as part of her header is heavily Aquarian; 'nothing is accidental, nothing is incidental, no experience is wasted'.

Mars Turns Direct in Taurus

Mars turns direct next week. If you've been feeling somewhat stalled or lethargic lately, this could provide the push to propel you forward and to begin to see results on any activities you've been working away at diligently over the past couple of months.

Mars turned retrograde at the beginning of October at 23 degrees Taurus. It is now stationing at eight degrees Taurus and will turn direct on Friday.

If you are an Aquarian born between January 27th and February 2nd, (or if you have personal planets at between eight and twelve degrees in the fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio) this current Mars station in Taurus is impacting greatly on your birth chart and hence your life. Mars stationary direct, as it will be for the next couple of weeks, can provide you with a period of very concentrated energy.

Mars is not alone in its action now. It is completely tied in to a t-square with Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn is retrograding in Leo (at 11 degrees) and currently squaring Mars. Jupiter in Scorpio at 7 degrees is opposing Mars and squaring Saturn. These three planets will remain in this t-square relationship throughout December.

Any Aquarians with personal planets between eight and twelve degrees of Aquarius will now have the effect of 'a grand cross in fixed signs' in their charts. This is an extremely strong configuration and could create major breakthroughs in some aspect of your life. However if you are the type of person who is predisposed to anger, it could be an emotionally trying or accident-prone time for you. Even very peaceful Aquarians with planets in these degrees may find that people close to them (their 'projected selves') are more irritable or jumpy than usual.

Birthstones for January and February

According to the official birthstone list from the American National Association of Jewelers, the gemstones for people born in January and February are the garnet and amethyst gemstones.

The garnet gemstone is sometimes referred to as a 'stone of health'. It is supposed to aid in the circulation of energy. It is said to remove nightmares and depression and help heal various skin conditions. It is affiliated with the root chakra and is said to help stimulate the pituitary gland.

And what about the February birthstone; the amethyst? According to the writers at Wikipedia amethyst is no less than 'a symbol of heavenly understanding, and of the pioneer in thought and action on the philosophical, religious, spiritual and material planes'.

Wikipedia has much more to say about the amethyst birthstone:

Tradition maintains that amethyst assists those who wear it in maintaining their faithfulness, causing peace and calmness of mind. It was often carried by soldiers on the shafts of spears and on swords as a charm against death, being thought to bring calmness and victory in battle. Bound to the left wrist, the amethyst is said to enable the wearer to see the future in dreams. It represses evil thoughts and actions, gives a keen business sense, and warns of ill health. The amethyst attracts love and good luck, and helps to prevent drunkenness.

Geez, with credentials like this, I better run out and get myself an amethyst ;-)

Look to your Moon for Health Issues

Where is the Moon placed in your chart? The answer can tell you a lot about your physical and emotional health.

What zodiac sign is your moon located in by birth? This alone can tell you many things about your potential health issues, although how it is aspected and the house it resides in is also very important.

If your natal Moon is in Aquarius for example, you are more likely to have arthritis problems at some point in your life as well as vericose veins and other circulatory problems.

How to Seduce an Aquarian

Are you interested in seducing an Aquarian? Good luck with your quest. Aquarians are indeed seducable, but probably less easily than any of the other eleven zodiac signs. Aquarius Sun signs are said to be 'fifty years ahead of their time'. Keep this in mind if you want to arouse their interest. Here's some suggestions on how to seduce an Aquarian male or female:
  • If you go on a dinner date with them, think of a funky place with some bohemian atmosphere. Aquarians aren't often enamored with chain restaurants.
  • While eating out, be considerate to the waiter. They are your equal. Aquarians are humanitarians in general; they know that no person is better or lesser than them; they are not into pompous show-off stuff.
  • You'll stand a better chance with the typical Aquarian if you can relate to the famous personality that said this: - the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace things, but burn like fabulous roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue center light pop and everybody goes "AWWW!"
  • Thinking of a movie after dinner? How about suggesting the nearest IMAX 3D theatre instead? Currently playing is Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon. Now that would turn on any Aquarian ;-)

There are some swear words involved and i hope this does not offend you because otherwise it is a very interesting read. Enjoy.


To all those wanting an Aquarian perspective:

I'm an Aquarian Sun with an Aries Moon and Rising woman. I abhor cheating and am honest to a fault. I will always tell the truth and be 100% loyal, physically and emotionally, to my partner even when temptation arises, if my sexual and emotional needs are being satisfied. If he's cheating or playing games with other women, then all bets are off. 

I think my rising and moon sign adds a lot of fire because I am very passionate and sensitive. I have walls and I want to meet a man who is strong enough to tear them down. I only get cold and distant when I'm really hurting or am dealing with something painful from my past. 

It takes me years to get over a break up, even though no one sees me sweat and I act like everything is roses and sunshine. I don't let people in so easily, because the fallout for me is bad after a break up, worse than anyone else I know. 

I don't feel or think like other people. Emotions definitely confuse me and love and commitment are scary as fuck, but the right lover is worth facing the fear. It took me until I was in my late 20s to reach being comfortable with the emotions that love and sex bring, and I'm still not 100% there yet. Before that, I had casual sexual relationships or would be intimate with lovers that I knew had no long-term potential, but were different, fun or interesting. I made sure no one got hurt by being 100% upfront about my intentions from the beginning. The way other people feel matters to me, but I know that promising something I can't provide will be even more miserable for us both and I hate feeling tied to something that I don't want. 

We all grow at different stages. An emotionally stable Aquarius is an amazing human being to be friends or lovers with. We will take you to the moon and back every time we kiss. :) 


My best and closest connections have been with a Sag. and a Leo. The Sag. was my first and I have never forgotten him or stopped loving him. He's happily married to another girl now and we are still friends on FB who wish each other happy birthday. The Leo had my mind, heart and soul, and I could be myself with him. Unfortunately, he was a cheating womanizer and ended up dating one of my friends. We are not on speaking terms. 

I avoid Taurus/Scorpio/Virgo like the plague and run the other way. Scorpios are fucking crazy, jealous and petty, even though the sex and passion is fantastic. All that emotional turmoil is a drag long-term. AVOID THEM, UNLESS YOU LIKE FUCKED UP MIND GAMES, PAIN AND TORTURE. Virgos are boring and hypercritical. We lack chemistry and are incompatible on every level. Tauruses like routine too much and are very possessive. Our ideas on life are very different and neither one of use could compromise. My longest relationship with my Taurus ex-bf was an abusive, controlling one. I haven't dated anyone in the five years since we broke up. 

Any one of my lovers would take me back. We are still on friendly terms, but to me it's really just friends. Once it's over, I don't look back. 

Although I'm more the introverted, shy type of Aquarius that is creative and bohemian, I work a corporate 9-6 and kick it's ass and am willing to work to make my own way in this world. I balance the creative, emotional and intellectual side of myself professionally.


I care too deeply about the world and it's inhabitants. Small things in nature give me deep joy. I love my cats and dogs and will rescue all kinds of stray animals. I'm not scared of bugs or reptiles and I will help an animal that has been run over by a car with my bare hands. I am "green". I don't hurt animals or small living creatures. I don't wear things that come from animals and am a vegetarian. I'm an INFP, if that helps. 


It's also 100% true that I'm a total filthy fucking slut willing to try anything in bed. I'm into S&M, role play, and a bunch of kinky shit. Although I seem submissive, I'm a switch and am pretty bad ass. I FUCKING kick ass in bed and am better than any Scorpio or Leo I've met, I'm just saying. 

I don't sleep around. I only have sex when I am in a committed monogamous relationship. You have to win me over mind, spirit, and soul before you get to my body. So all those fleeting casual things no longer work for me. I am SUPER picky and need deep, intense passion and a legitimate connection. Things most men are not willing to work for, sadly. 

All my guy friends are really just strictly platonic friends, on my part. Most people dig me because I am really attractive, even though I don't wear make-up or high heels and don't dress conventionally slutty, but am more conservative seeming. 

Male attention from men I'm not interested in, or those who are just trolling for sex, makes me uncomfortable so I act cold and distant. If a married or committed man hits on me, I will be a total FUCKING bitch with no remorse. I HATE cheating and think it's the worst form of betrayal. I have respect for other woman and myself, so I would never do that to another. 

I do not lead men on. I'm just interesting and people like talking to me and I like talking to them. I don't let men buy me a drink because I get my own. If I'm seriously flirting, I have every intention of getting to know you on a deeper level.

I find the comments here to be hilarious. Most Aquarians cannot be grouped together. They are all different from one another. 

I will say that every Aqua man I knew is a giant man whore and does not do well with commitment unless they are stimulated and fulfilled 100% sexually and intellectually. Unfortunately, most of you earth and water signs can't do that, but it does also depend on the other aspects in your chart and how much you are willing to understand the unquantifiable. Air and Fire signs can get there easier, if they are willing to put in the work. 


If you really, truly get under an Aquarius's skin and into their mind, you will have an indescribable, loyal love like no other. We will blow your mind. We are unlike anyone else. We are SO fucking worth it. It just depends on whether or not you are. Our requirements are different from most people and it takes a while to get acclimated to the way we love. 

All people are different and astrology only plays a small part in relationships. You can do anything you wish, but you can't force love. A lot of it depends on the degree of emotional, spiritual, mental, physical, and social maturity and whether y'all can fill each other's gaps. Any one who is fucked up or hurt will take it out on others in love. I do not wish that on anyone who reads this. 

We are so beautiful and human. We are ALL insecure and scared in different ways. Just know that if someone is letting you see that vulnerable side of them, that you should respect and cherish that, and try not to hurt them. We are all a little fragile behind the masks we put on.

There are thousands of astrology websites out there but only a handful of blogs. Here's some links to the best astrology blogs I've discovered recently:

Aquarius Papers is a very informative astrology blog written by Robert Wilkinson. It's chock-full of information about current planet action and how it may impact your chart. Visit his site now for example, to see how the upcoming Mercury Retrograde will impact you depending on which house it is transiting in your chart.

Astrologer's Diary is a nicely written and designed blog by Jessica Adams.

Astrological Musings is a very high-quality blog by Lynn Hayes profiling people in the news and providing daily planetary updates.


Astrology.ca Blog features astrological insights, astrology in the news, and answers to letters from readers. The author is (Libra) Brandi Jasmine. This blog has not been updated since July; I hope Brandi hasn't given up on it.

Big Sky AstroBlog is for 'the astrologically insatiable' as writes Leo author April Elliott Kent. It's an informative and entertaining read. I've just added it to my bookmarks.

ElsaElsa.com is a beautifully presented astrology advice column.

Know It All Astrologer is an entertaining read and a little more geared to beginner astrology readers than some of the other blogs on this list.

Oculus Divinorum blog is a beautiful site about astrology and tarot. It's authored by Isthmus Nekoi. Her New Moon and Full Moon analysis every month is enough reason to visit this site regularly.


That only adds up to eight. I'll complete this post as I come across more great blogs.

Aquarian Rosa Parks

Rosa ParksRosa Parks was born in Alabama on February 4th, 1913. She died last week.

Parks was known as 'the mother of the civil rights movement'. In 1955, when she was 42 years old (Uranus Opposition) she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man and thus changed the course of history.

Parks was a strong Aquarian with Sun, Uranus, Mercury and Moon in Aquarius. See Rosa Park's biography at Wikipedia.

Mars: Look Up and See it Tonight

If you see the planet Mars in the sky this weekend, it will be the closest look you will have at the 'red planet' until 2018. Mars is now closer to Earth than it has ever been (except for a period in 2003) in the past 60,000 years.

Normally the Earth and Mars are 140 million miles apart, but this weekend, that's been narrowed to 41 million miles.


This weekend also features a Venus-Pluto conjunction. This can bring on intense passionate feelings and love-affairs. Enjoy your Halloween parties this weekend, they are due to be more raunchy and primal than usual.

The Planets are in Alignment for Jennifer Jason Leigh

About ten months ago Aquarian Digest portrayed Jennifer Jason Leigh and predicted this would be a very good year for her.

Leigh is an extreme Aquarian. Not only is her Sun in Aquarius, but so are her Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Midheaven.

She has a Sun-Venus-Jupiter conjunction at between 16 and 19 degrees of Aquarius. Jupiter was trining this conjunction for a few months this year.

It has turned out to be a very wonderful year for her. Not only did she win a Genie Award, but for the first time at the age of 43, she fell in love and got married. Her husband is the very interesting Noah Baumbach. He is seven years younger and it's also his first marriage.

Paris Hilton's Natal Chart

Paris Hilton is probably the most highly searched celebrity name on the Internet today. She was born February 17, 1981 and has a birth chart with a lot of emphasis on Aquarius. Her Sun, Mercury and Venus are all in Aquarius.

Uranus, the ruler of all these planets in Aquarius, makes a tight square to her Sun, Mercury and Mars.

Her birth time is not known, but her Moon is placed somewhere in the middle decanate of Leo.

Paris first shot to fame in 2003 when a stolen sex video of her and her boyfriend was released on the Internet. At that time transiting Uranus was squaring her natal Uranus and passing directly (conjunct) over her Sun.

Kate Moss and Aquarius in her Natal Chart

Kate Moss was born with a Sun in late Capricorn (January 16, 1974) but she has more planets in Aquarius than most Aquarians. Her Mercury, Venus and Jupiter are all in Aquarius.

Her birth time is not known, but her physical appearance and bohemian personality certainly seem to fit an Aquarius rising type. I would guess her Ascendant is placed conjunct her Venus in Aquarius. (See her natal chart here.)

Her Moon is in the first half of Scorpio squaring her Aquarian Venus.

She has a T-square with Venus as the apex planet at seven degrees Aquarius. Mars squares her Venus from eight degrees Taurus and the Scorpio Moon squares the Venus and opposes her Mars.

Saturn is now creating a very powerful 'grand cross' out of this fixed sign t-square as it transits at 7-8 degrees of Leo. This is the worst possible degree for transiting Saturn in her chart, and the transit has been very difficult for her personal and professional life.

New Moon and Solar Eclipse: October 3rd

The New Moon on October 3rd will also be a solar eclipse. Solar eclipses usually only happen twice a year and they can be powerful influencers if they aspect an important point in your astrology chart.

This conjunction of the Sun and Moon takes place in ten degrees of Libra (10.19 to be exact).

If you have personal planets aspecting this New Moon you could feel the influence quite strongly for weeks before and a few weeks after October 3rd.

In her excellent book, Predictive Astrology: The Eagle and the Lark, Bernadette Brady notes that this New Moon is # 7 South of the Saros Series of solar eclipses. It is an eclipse with "immense power, anger and force...The individual experiencing this series will find that huge obstacles will suddenly and easily clear or, on the negative side, a pending potential crisis will suddenly manifest and move through his or her life very rapidly. Either way the individual will feel that everything is moving at great speed."

Where is ten degrees Libra in your chart? What house and area of your life does it represent? What aspects does this eclipse make to the planets in your birth chart? Answers to these questions should give you some clues as to how and even if you will feel the influence of this eclipse in your personal life.

Jupiter transit in Scorpio

love signsTransiting Jupiter enters Scorpio on October 27th 2005 and will remain there for just over a year until the last part of November 2006.

Jupiter transits the entire zodiac every twelve years and stays in each sign for approximately one year. The zodiac sign Jupiter is currently transiting through is less important for you personally than the house it is transiting in your personal birth chart and the aspects it makes to personal planets in your chart.

Scorpio can be a very intense, earnest and courageous sign. Jupiter will magnify this. Whether the focus is on intense mental sleuthing, investments or career, sexual matters, the tax man, inheritances, or rebirth and reincarnation, Jupiter in this sign can really ramp up the volume depending on what house it occupies in your chart and how it is aspecting your personal planets.

Zodiac Signs and Relationships

When it comes to relationships, people with an emphasis on Aquarius are usually considered to be the most emotionally detached of all twelve zodiac signs. But it's important not just to look at where the Sun Sign is placed, but to also see which sign the other personal planets are located.

For relationship planets, the placement of Venus and Moon is very important in a man's chart in terms of what values and type of relationships he is looking for in a female. In women's charts, the Sun and Mars are traditionally considered the most relevant planets in terms of what characteristics the female is seeking in a man.

The moon is central for both sexes, in determining what kinds of emotional security the person is most likely drawn to.

I was once in a short relationship with a man who had a lovely Venus/Jupiter conjunction in Gemini. Not only were these planets conjunct my Ascendant, but they were trine some of my personal planets in Aquarius.

sexual astrologyI thought we would have a very rosy relationship. But I've read that men who have a Venus in Gemini are often not happy with just one female in their life. More often they need two. They are wonderfully poetic when it comes to verbal romancing, but they can be flighty and always on the lookout for the next interesting female to verbally seduce. This was certainly true of my ex-boyfriend, but I'm sure it doesn't necessarily apply to many men with Venus in Gemini.

1962 Aquarius - Update

Aquarius stelliumIt's been several months since I put out a call for 1962 Aquarians to contact me. I've now heard from 15 people. I'm waiting for 200 people born with a stellium in Aquarius to contact me before I send out a survey.

A few months ago, I was encouraged because I thought this site was starting to show up in Google's search engine. That turned out to be false optimism. It only lasted a few days and then the site disappeared again from the search engine. Over the past week, it has been showing up again for very few search words, but including searches such as "stellium in Aquarius".

I think once I've heard from 25 people I will mail out a note inviting everyone to introduce themselves in the comments section below. I'm hoping to keep this process completely confidential, so if you are a 1962 Aquarian and you email me, your email will not be shared with any of the other people on the list.

Saturn Transit through the Third House

Saturn in the third houseSaturn recently moved out of my second house to begin transiting my third house. I was relieved, as Saturn in the second house traditionally turns a sharp focus towards ones resources, values and finances.

A Saturn transit through each house typically lasts two and a half years. Depending on which house system you believe in (I personally use the Koch system), this transit could be considerably shorter or longer.

I was wondering what would transpire as Saturn entered my third house. From reading all the astrology books, I was preparing myself for possible confrontations with neighbors and siblings as well as a time when potentially my mind would be sharper than usual as Saturn transiting the third house is quite a positive move for mental activities.

I do think it was on the eve of Saturn transiting my third house, when I went out on the porch late at night and was confronted by a very big old raccoon who was sitting on the patio chair. He slowly slinked off and went away, but the smell lingered on my patio chair cushion. Not to mention that he had previously gone through the garbage bag we had left on the porch and had gnawed it apart and strewn it across the porch. Ah, that's the beginning of the third house Saturn transit, I thought.

Over the next few days, neighbors on two sides of our house began heavy duty construction projects. The noise is deafening.

I guess I shouldn't complain. Construction noise is a better alternative for Saturn third house manifestations than having trouble with your neighbors or siblings. But this is just the start of the transit. Who knows what else will transpire?

Venus Conjunct Jupiter

Venus conjunct JupiterVenus is now conjunct Jupiter in Libra. The exact conjunction occurs on September 1st, at 18.42 degrees of Libra, but the effect is felt for a couple of days before and after this.

Venus and Jupiter are conjunct for about a week once each year or so. Some lucky people are born during this conjunction each year and have a Venus/Jupiter conjunction in their natal charts. This influence can make them more buoyant and cheerful than the average person and depending on how it is aspected to other planets in their charts, it can also bestow a great deal of social and financial ease and luck. Ebertin's book sees this natal conjunction as one bestowing sociableness, popularity and 'film-star mannerisms'. It signifies the joy of love and happiness in love. This weeks transiting Venus conjunct Jupiter in Libra could be an unusually happy time for people with personal planets at between 16 and 20 degrees of Aquarius, Gemini and/or Libra.

If you are an Aquarian with your Sun somewhere in this degree range (born sometime between February 5th and 9th) you might have a very enjoyable week. You may be happier and more charming and affectionate than usual. You may find you are socializing more than usual and your friends are even friendlier;-). If your Sun is in the 10th house or your Midheaven is trining this conjunction, you could get very lucky financially during this transit.

Ferguson's "Aquarius Now"


Aquarius NowI was browsing through Amazon's book collection on astrology and specifically Aquarius related topics and I happened to stumble on this book, Aquarius Now: Radical Common Sense And Reclaiming Our Personal Sovereignty.

The book is not yet available. It's due to be out in stores in November. I haven't been able to find any reviews other than the publisher's blurb at Amazon.

But what piqued my interest is that the book is written by Marilyn Ferguson and is being promoted as a sequel to "Aquarian Conspiracy".

The Aquarian Conspiracy was published 25 years ago. I had a copy on my bookshelf for many years, but I can't seem to find it now. I must have lent it to someone. I can't remember if I enjoyed the book. I can't really even remember what it was about.

But I do know that it was a major bestseller in the New Age category. It has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still in print twenty-five years later.

Transiting Neptune Conjunct Jupiter

BuddhaTransiting Neptune conjunct your Jupiter can only happen once in a lifetime, if at all. Neptune takes about fourteen years to travel through each of the zodiac signs. Currently it is in the middle of Aquarius.

Both Jupiter and Neptune have a lot to do with spiritual interests and the expansion of consciousness. When Neptune goes over your Jupiter, be prepared for some kind of expansion of consciousness. Perhaps you will become interested in religion for the first time, or you all of a sudden be running into all sorts of mystical types of people. Or spiritual people. Maybe you will begin or intensify a study of eastern philosophies or metaphysical subjects.

Several astrology authors note about this transit that it can bring great material as well as spiritual rewards. But the material rewards, if they were to come, would come without effort during this particular transit. The real opportunity here is to focus on the transpersonal and the higher spiritual realms.

If you are an artist by temperament or profession this could be a tremendously inspiring time for you.

The most uplifting description I've seen of this transit is by Grant Lewi in Astrology for the Millions. He writes:

"A period of unparalleled opportunity, when intangibles work on your side to bring new chances for material and spiritual expansion. Do not permit your life or your viewpoint to get into a rut at this time. Your chances are best in proportion to the height of your aims and the idealism of your aspirations. Release yourself from materialistic thoughts: practical rewards will be "added unto you" as you devote yourself wholesouledly to broad social, artistic or humanitarian aims. Be ready for unusual and spectacular developments; widen your horizon to take in everything possible. In its worst manifestation, leads to physical excess, extravagance and self-indulgence of a particularly heady and disagreeable sort. But this will come to only the material and sensational-minded. To the average run of humanity, halfway between heaven and earth in their outlook, this is a never-to-be-repeated chance to interpret the highest of idealism in the practical realm of everyday life, so as to achieve permanence of both philosophy and security."

Jupiter Conjunct Ascendant: Physical Appearance

If you have a natal planet conjunct your Ascendant, this should have a visible impact on your physical appearance.

If the planet is Venus, for example, you will most likely have a beautiful appearance, a great complexion and possibly dimples on your face.


I'd like to do a series of articles about planets conjunct the Ascendant and how this relates to physical appearance. I'm looking for volunteers to send me photos of consenting people they know who have a planet conjunct their Ascendant.


We can start this series with the eighteen month old baby pictured here. It's an example of someone born with Jupiter exactly conjunct their Ascendant.


Jupiter conjunct the Ascendant would typically give a larger than normal physical frame. People with Jupiter in their first house can often have weight problems at some point in their life.


Jupiter is the greatest benefic planet there is in astrology, and if this planet is conjunct your Ascendant you are considered very blessed. Your health and sport abilities will be better than average, and you are likely to be popular with your peers and the world around you. All social affairs will come much easier to you than for most people.


Jupiter conjunct your Ascendant will make you jubilant, at least in outer appearances, and also portend a philosophical or religious tendency at some point in your life. If you are a lawyer, you may excel in court. You are the outer embodiment of Jupiter, the planet representing the judicial system. Typically, with Jupiter conjunct your ascendant, you can see the 'big picture' better than others. You could also do very well in sales and advertising, as you are much more persuasive than most people.

I'm somewhat biased here as this is my child.


When looking at planets conjunct the Ascendant, it's important to be sure you are working with an exact birth time. Every four minutes the Ascendant moves one degree. So if you are half-an-hour off the exact birth time, this could move the Ascendant eight degrees off where you thought it was.

Just got the first Jupiter Conjunct Ascendant photo emailed in. Thanks much for this.

This young man has a Jupiter Uranus Ascendant conjunction in Sagittarius. He is 1.90 meters tall and 80 kilograms and was born on the 10th of September 1983 in Instanbul Turkey. (His sagittarian line-up is Jupiter at 3 degrees, Uranus at 5 degrees and Ascendant at 10 degrees.)
